Mudgee, NSW is a small town with a big personality. It’s a great place to visit any time of the year and there are plenty of things to do on your trip!

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Mudgee is in winter. Why? Because it is not so crowded, the temperatures are milder and you can avoid the summer heat!

The best months to visit are March, April and May. If you plan to go during this time of year, make sure you pack layers and a jacket because even though it can be warm during the day, the weather at night can drop significantly.

If your budget allows, consider staying at one of Mudgee’s resorts or hotels which offer great value for money during the off-peak (winter) season.

Arriving at Mudgee

Mudgee is located in the heart of the Central Table of New South Wales, about three hours drive from Sydney. It is an excellent choice for anyone looking to get out of the city and enjoy some real life in the Australian countryside. If you’re coming from elsewhere in Australia, it’ll probably take you over two hours to drive here—but that just means you’ll have more time to enjoy your surroundings once you get there!

The best way to get into Mudgee is by plane; Yennora Airport (YNN) has flights arriving daily from Sydney airport. While hiring a car can be an option if you plan to go off-road or visit other areas around NSW, most travelers prefer to take trains or buses as they make it much more easy when trying to not only save money but also keep track of what it is. running around town as well as when you return home after exploring all that Mudgee has to offer!

It also offers great views over Lake Cowal courtesy of its elevated position at the top of Conroy’s Hill Road so there are plenty of opportunities to see which way we’re going next time!
